Butterfly Room 2025 - 2026

Our Butterfly Room is designed for our 3-year‑olds and builds directly on the rich experiences children enjoy in the Caterpillar Room. Here, children grow in confidence, independence and readiness for Reception, while still learning through play.

Building on Caterpillar Learning 📚✨

Each half term, we explore engaging themes and focus texts that spark imagination, develop language and extend children’s ideas. Staff continue to follow child‑led interests, ensuring learning feels meaningful and exciting.

Children also enjoy Scribble Club ✏️, which builds on their early mark‑making and supports fine‑motor skills, pattern making and early writing - laying strong foundations for Reception phonics and Drawing Club.

A Rich Environment, Indoors and Out 🌿

Our continuous provision offers familiar areas - construction, malleable/messy, role play and small world.

Outdoor learning remains central. Children explore our spacious outdoor area and visit our forest space, developing resilience, curiosity and language through nature‑based play.

Preparing for Reception ⭐

We support school readiness by focusing on:

• Independent dressing and self‑care 
• Confidence with toileting 
• Listening, turn‑taking and group participation 
• Building friendships and managing feelings 

Through purposeful play and daily routines, children gain the independence and confidence they need for a smooth, successful transition to Reception.
