Year 4 2025 - 2026
Mrs Richards
Welcome to Year 4!
Welcome back to the second half of the Spring term.
I hope that you all had a lovely break with lots of pancakes on Pancake Day!
This term we will be very busy finalising the songs for the Singfest on Wednesday18th March. If you haven't yet bought tickets (parent message previously sent) then the link to the Love Music Trust website page is www.lovemusictrust.com/tickets.
Our new Pathways to Write book is Wisp by Zana Fraillon - a beautiful story about a little boy, Idris, who lives in a refugee camp.
Please note, PE lessons will be on a Monday and Thursday this half term. For our PE lessons, the children will need to wear their PE kits (red hoodie/jumper, red T-shirt, black leggings or tracksuit bottoms). Please could you ensure that all uniform is labelled. For health and safety reasons, earrings must be removed during PE lessons and children with long hair must have it tried back.
Reading regularly at home remains incredibly important - it helps children to develop fluency, prosody and strengthens their comprehension skills.
Homework is assigned on Atom Prime every Friday and is due in the following Wednesday. Please make sure that your child’s account is activated and that they are completing their weekly assignments. You can access Atom Prime here.
We’re also continuing to use Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRockstars) to support maths fluency. Regular practice at home is encouraged to ensure that children further develop their recall of key multiplication and division facts. Please help your child practise their times tables daily in preparation for the multiplication check that takes place in June. Your child can practise using the Mathsframe MTC game which mirrors the check. We use this is school and it is very effective.
I do hope that the information provided is useful. If you do have any questions or concerns, or require any further information, please feel free to get in touch - our door is always open.
