Curriculum

At Highfields Academy & Nursery, we want every child to leave us with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need for the next stage of their education and for life beyond school.

Our curriculum is built around the National Curriculum and our school values of Respect, Resilience, Responsibility, Roundedness and Reward.

We provide a broad and engaging curriculum that helps children develop academically, socially and emotionally.

We place a strong emphasis on reading, writing and mathematics, as these are the foundations for success across all areas of learning. At the same time, we ensure children experience a rich curriculum that develops curiosity, creativity and an understanding of the wider world.

We believe every child should be able to succeed. Learning is carefully planned so that knowledge and skills build over time, and support is provided quickly when children need it. Alongside academic achievement, we help pupils develop the resilience, confidence and character needed to thrive.

Learning extends beyond the classroom through educational visits, visitors, clubs, performances and residential experiences, helping children create memories and discover new interests and talents.

Our Aim

By the time they leave Highfields Academy & Nursery, we want our pupils to be confident, kind and ambitious young people who are proud of who they are, ready for their next steps and determined to make a positive difference in the world.
